Creative ThoughtsIn the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Part 13)Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good. (Genesis 1:24-25, NASB)
From studying the first chapter in the Bible, the reader easily senses that the Creator only creates with logical order in mind:
A. On Day One of Creation Week, God created the “raw materials” from which Earth (and everything else) would be formed. Moments later, God called light forth, inferring that the just-created electromagnetic energy spectrum was then in place. Gravitational force also came into being, allowing Earth to assume a spherical shape and exist until Day Three with a shoreless ocean surrounding it.
B. On Day Two, the atmosphere (the gaseous envelope surrounding Earth) was emplaced between the waters of the upper and lower parts of the hydrosphere (the aqueous envelope of Earth).
C. On Day Three, Earth’s lithosphere (the solid part of Earth) and biosphere (the part of Earth where life can exist) were formed. On this Day God formed dry land on the planet, thereby covering the land with fertile soil and populating it with vibrant plants.
![]() D. Day Four witnessed the formation of the astrosphere (all celestial bodies and outer space containing them). The Bible tells us that “He made the stars also” on this Day. What a wonderful understatement!
E. On Day Five, living creatures were formed to populate the atmosphere (flying creatures) and hydrosphere (aquatic animals).
F. On Day Six, God formed land-dwelling animals to inhabit the lithosphere and biosphere.1
During the first six days of Creation Week, God brought about everything that exists. Each element that came into being provided necessities required for the next element to logically follow. And all that was created was originally in a perfect and sinless state.
Consider now the animals that came into existence on Day Six. “After their kind” is a reference to the individuality of each kind of animal. The reproductive cells (egg/sperm) of all animals are programmed to develop into their own kind of creature.
This marvelous program is the molecular basis of heredity found in deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA -- see public domain rendering above) which is structured as a complex double helix chain within each cell. In the DNA is where all of the information required to reproduce any particular kind of creature is faithfully recorded and then “read” to produce thousands of different proteins. These proteins become the specifications for the design of this unique creature.2
We could loosely compare DNA to a software program used by a modern computer. To use the program’s intelligence, the computer reads data contained within the program to enable it to reproduce a copy of the desired information. But DNA is light years ahead of computer programs in its ability to store vast amounts of data in just a submicroscopic strand of organic material.
And to further add to the complexity is the “reading” process of that densely recorded data during translation into those proteins.3 Some have estimated that a very small amount of DNA no bigger than the head of a pin would contain enough information to fill a stack of books stretching from Earth to the moon 500 times!4
The complexity and huge amount of information built into DNA cries out that its origin had to involve intelligence and precludes the possibility of a cause by accidental, naturalistic processes. In fact, in everyday human experience and basic scientific study, the Law of Causality indicates that no effect can be greater than its cause.
Certainly everything around us demonstrates complexity and intelligence far beyond an evolutionary origin. We read in the Bible that the ultimate Intelligence and First Cause is none other than a complex, conscious, and living Person who created everything, known to us as the Creator and Triune Being, God Himself.5
If God used an orderly and logical plan for His creation, certainly we can safely assume that He has such a plan for each of us. After all, we are part of His creation! God tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB), “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”
It is God’s wish that we come to know Him personally as our Savior. Once in His forever family, God will provide each of us with peace and security along with a promised hope of eternal life with Him that only He can supply. Have you asked Him to forgive your sins and come into your life for salvation and eternal security?
